Top in Personal Sales

Tamara Cimmerian – Senior Team Leader

How did you step up your sales efforts in March?

“I booked many large events that were guaranteed to have at least 200-800 professional people attending who can afford to buy Origami Owl jewelry. I’m also either the only jewelry vendor there, or one of two, which is amazing. I’m also designing Lockets for a bunch of sporting events to be used as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals for the 30 winning events. I had to make sure to stock up on inventory to prepare for these events.”

What do you believe has made the biggest impact on your monthly sales?

“Thinking big and thinking out of the box. I knew that smaller ‘craft’-type sales events just were not cutting it for me and my (future) Owlette, Siren, (who, at 11 years old, behaves like a true Owlette, taking orders, finding out the tax at events. She also talks about the Owlette Program with customers, having attended Convention last year, and takes information from anyone who may be interested in having a Jewelry Bar®). I made the decision to seek out bigger events and venues. That’s not to say that I never do smaller events – I do. Often a contact from a larger event will book a Jewelry Bar with us. I like doing bigger events so then I have a lot of events planned many months in advance. That way I know for certain that every month I will need product and to make Owlchiever, and I can help out my downline and offer events to them.”

How would you encourage others to grow their sales?

“Think big and creatively. Step out of your comfort zone. Why not join with another Origami Owl Designer, split the entry fee and try a big fair? It takes a little bit to work out all the logistics, to stock up enough inventory (you don’t need as much as you think you do), to figure out where to stay – if it’s more than one day – however, larger events can really work out well, and bring you tons of repeat customers and potential team members.

Writing down your affirmations really brings them to fruition. The act of writing them down, keeping them positive, in the present time, and specific, solidifies them somehow and creates the spiritual energy necessary to manifest them. I also realized that to make money, you need to spend money. My father, a successful businessman and real estate developer, says, ‘You can’t sell from an empty cart.’ Understand that the first few years of beginning a new business is going to be tough. That doesn’t mean that you can’t defy the odds or change the pattern – just know the statistics and understand what you’re dealing with. In today’s economy (like in auditioning for roles), you will often hear more ‘no’s’ than ‘yes’.’ You can’t take it personally. The most successful people are those who are the ones who are the most resilient.

Always do your {O2 Vital Behaviors}, such as wear your jewelry, carry your business cards and Take Out Menus. I get more customers in the checkout line than you can imagine when people notice my Heritage Living Locket® Ring as I rummage for my change.

Also, consider all the different places you can market your Origami Owl business. Spas and gyms will often let you showcase Moodology™; I showcase Moodology up to four times a year at a spa in a fitness center. You can’t do any direct sales, but I book Jewelry Bars. There are so many opportunities, think doctor’s and dentist offices – receptionists, hygienists and nurses need parties, too! There’s also movie theaters, bookstores, mom + pop toy stores {Trolls}, health food stores, real estate offices and any corporate office that has employees will hold parties.

Also, look at schools (especially colleges, private schools and mother-daughter programs). You can do a presentation on the Owlette program. See if you can offer a discount on making medals or awards (using lockets and inscription plates) for sport’s or award’s night. Many clubs that give scholarships will advertise you as the official ‘medal creator’ and make you a repeat customer.

Siren and I did a huge 200+ Take Out Menu drop in our neighborhood and held a Jewelry Bar in our community room. Siren would run Take Out Menus up to houses or in a mailbox; plus, renting our neighborhood community room cost us ZERO dollars!

Never leave anyone out for fear that: 1. They don’t need a job. 2. They can’t afford Origami Owl. 3. They’re not female! You don’t know what that person wants or needs. Maybe the CEO of a large company secretly hates their job. Maybe you’re offering someone a new chance at life. Maybe someone’s sister or wife needs a present. I never discriminate, and I don’t force. If they don’t want to buy or be a part of Origami Owl, I let it go immediately.

Lastly, I also do a lot of fundraising, which is super easy now with our gorgeous new Origami Owl Fundraising Toolkit. We work with the Ovarian Cancer Circle and Relay for Life.

All of this mostly takes time and effort. And, a very good and reliable printer!”

What is your favorite part about your Origami Owl business?

“I love the mission statement. I love what Origami Owl stands for. I love my fellow Designers and the O2 community. I love how much of a family we are. I love our Customers. It’s absolutely beautiful to help share stories and empower other people. I especially adore working with my daughter (even if we do bicker at times!). And, I love doing something creative – I’m an artist and will always be. My aunt is a silver and goldsmith, a glass bead and vessel maker and PMC Instructor whose work has been featured in Bead and Button Magazine. So, I come from a long line of jewelers and artists. Origami Owl jewelry is a very high-quality product sold at a very competitive price. It’s an honor to be a part of this company. It allows me to be a single mom and actor, and to do what love!“

Anything else you’d like to add?

“I love Origami Owl because it allows anyone, at any stage in their life, to succeed and reach as high as they want to go. I’ll confess to you, I suffer from ME/CFS which is debilitating illness that causes severe pain and exhaustion. I’m bedridden a major part of EVERY month. I do a lot of my work from my bed – in fact, I’m writing this from bed. After any event, I spend at least a day in bed to recover. I have to pace myself and do a lot of planning. This is why I chose to do Origami Owl as a business. I’m a single mom and SAG actor; I wanted a second flexible job that would allow me to take care of my daughter and be an actor – my two loves. My wonderful mentor, Ilicia Higginbotham, Executive Team Leader, recruited me at my daughter’s dance competition a year ago. In September 2016, I became a Team Leader and last month, I became a Senior Team Leader. I’m 100% confident that you can reach your dreams, too. I know that if you set your intentions and truly believe in yourself, you can manifest ANYTHING!”

Top in Personal Sponsoring

Aimee Johnson – Senior Team Manager

How did you step up your sponsoring efforts in March?

“I have been consistently sharing the Origami Owl opportunity with everyone, and following up with those that have shown interest. March just seemed to be the month that everyone wanted to join! I’m quick to answer questions, and I shared the excitement for our Gifting 2017 Collection preview that was presented during SOAR Saturday Live on April 1. Those that were interested in getting started wanted to be in business and ready for the new collection, so they were excited to join in March. ALWAYS give people a reason to get started right away, and NOT wait.”

What do you believe has made the biggest impact on growing your team?

“Sharing the opportunity with EVERYONE. I have new team members who never would have joined had I waited for them to approach me about it. Don’t pre-judge and don’t assume. Share how your business has changed your life. And, once someone shows interest or starts asking questions, listen. What do they want out of this business? How can this change their life? What are their expectations and goals? Once you have the answers to those questions, you can help them build a business that will meet their needs.”

How would you encourage others to grow their team?

“I know I keep giving the same answer, but it’s so true! Get comfortable sharing the opportunity. If you are new, make it a habit to talk about it with every Hostess and Customer. If you are not new, change your habit and start sharing with everyone! I’ll be honest with you, this was something I did not do for the first few years of my business! I had assumed that if someone wanted more information, they would come to me. I wasted years! By offering the opportunity, you are opening a door. Some will walk through, and some will not, but you will have planted a seed that might not have been there before. If you work on this enough, it becomes second nature, and it does get easier!”

What is your favorite part about your Origami Owl business?

“Oh goodness, there are so many things! I love the flexibility – being able to choose when to work and to be able to put my family first. My boys are getting bigger, and I don’t have to miss a thing! I LOVE helping my Customers build the perfect piece of memorable jewelry. Not all the stories are happy ones, but I get to know my Customers on such a deep, intimate level when they share the things that are most important to them! I love the heart of our company, and how real our Founders are. I love everything about O2!”

Anything else you’d like to add?

“Just a note of encouragement to anyone reading this. I will celebrate five years with Origami Owl in August, and my business has really taken off the last few years. But, it took time. Be consistent with what you do. Don’t give up, and work hard for what you want. It’s not a quick process, and it’s not easy-peasy. If you want to succeed, you have to work. Reach out to your Mentor for help – you are not alone! If you don’t have a good Mentor, reach out to whomever is above them, or to your Leadership Development Manager – they are your biggest cheerleaders! Remember to put your family first. Don’t let your business run YOU; YOU need to run your business. And, most importantly, if you feel blessed, find a way to bless others. Now go get ‘em, guys!”

Top in Developing Leaders

Kandice Astamendi – Team Manager

How did you step up your efforts to help others grow in March?

“Starting the first week of March, it was important to get as many Designers working their businesses and building momentum going into April and May.”

What do you believe has made the biggest impact on your team’s development?

“The biggest impact on our team has definitely been the Force For Good™ initiative. For so many people, it’s a great way to show what we are about. The Living Locket® sets are meaningful to so many people, and help Designers that are struggling to sell our more expensive Lockets. Designers can purchase these Locket sets and see the detail of the Charms and how our Swarovski® Crystals make the difference.”

How would you encourage others to help their team members grow in their development?

“Helping Designers find their natural strengths is very important to grow even stronger, and to work on getting out of their comfort zone. The core of their business is to understand it’s not about them, but about helping others create a meaningful Locket or gift for themselves or someone special.”

What is your favorite part about your Origami Owl business?

“My favorite part of my business is when a Designer finds her ‘Why!’ When a Designer helps someone create a Locket that speaks so deeply to that person, it’s so emotional. It’s so special that they’ve allowed us to be part of that moment. It’s something we carry with a truly grateful heart, that is cherished by both the Designer and that Customer. I will always say to those who say they can’t sell anything well, that I’m glad because you can’t sell someone their story – they have to share it with you! As a Designer, your part is to help design it with them.”

Anything else you’d like to add?

“I am grateful to Mellissa Taylor, Director, for her enthusiasm and support! After being in Origami Owl for 15 months, I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. Meeting the most generous, genuine Designers, caring Nest Team and our Founders who are as excited as we are in our business, has been inspiring to my soul. P.S. I drank the Kool-Aid and I don’t want to stop!”
