Do you dream of becoming an Origami Owl® Director? We know you’ll make that dream come true, and when you do, you’ll get an invitation to the exclusive New Director Academy!

This year’s New Director Academy was held January 23, 2020 at The Nest in Chandler, Arizona for Designers who promoted up to Director between August 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019.

The New Director Academy was full of love, inspiration, education, our iconic New Director Heart/Lock ceremony, plus a few special surprises!

New Director Academy Special Surprise

In addition to the incredible training New Directors received at the 2020 New Director Academy, this year, we had an extra-special surprise for them!

We invited the New Directors into the multi-purpose room at The Nest where they were surprised with signs and shirts made by Nest team members. After some celebration, the Directors were called up one-by-one to the front of the room where they were gifted a heartfelt Locket made just for them by Nest team members.

This special moment, as well as being one of the very first Designers to see the NEW! (to-be-named) Force For Good® mobile, was the highlight for many of our New Directors! (Keep reading below to hear more about this year’s New Director Academy.)

Laura + Kami Scheele

Favorite Part

“My favorite part of New Director Academy was all of it,” shares Laura. “Seriously though; from start to finish it was amazing. I loved being with my peers and hearing their stories. I loved the training The Nest provided. We even got a little visit from Christina Lovejoy from Swarovski®. I loved the exclusive jewelry we received. I loved the Lock/Heart Ceremony. I loved laughing in the Force For Good mobile. I loved getting picked up for dinner in a limo and being treated to some quality time with our Founders. But, I absolutely will never forget when The Nest employees came in with signs and shirts with our names on it as our cheerleaders. It means so much that they have our backs – just as we have theirs. They created a special Locket for each of us, and that is a gift I will always cherish.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“I chose to hang our Locket by the ‘I’ in ‘Difference,’” says Laura. “Because I can make a difference, and also because ‘I’ looks like a one (1), and I want to empower others to know that it only takes ONE person to make a difference.”

Why Earn Director?

“I have heard through the years that your Director’s class will always be some of your best friends,” shares Laura. “I was so blessed to promote with so many amazing women and yes, they will always be some of my best friends. I want to encourage others to make this your dream because you are, and will, make a difference! This sisterhood needs you!”

Erin Keene

Favorite Part

“I have two favorite parts of the New Director Academy,” shares Erin. “The first is being able to experience this with the other Directors – knowing we are all in this together and have so many similar experiences. My second favorite part was when The Nest employees designed Lockets for us! I’ve helped Customers create hundreds of Lockets, but until that day, I had never had someone else create a Locket for me. I now know firsthand how special it is when someone takes the time to create a Locket that captures everything that is so important in someone else’s life.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“I chose to hang my lock on the word ‘Story’ for several reasons,” says Erin. “I love that the Founders have embraced me and my story. Also, my team chose this spot because they said that we are changing lives through our stories! I also believe that Origami Owl gives others a way to share their own stories in order to inspire others.”

Why Earn Director?

“Everyone should aspire to achieve Director,” shares Erin. “Obviously, the pay increase is nice, but the feeling of accomplishment when reaching this level is indescribable. Leading my team, and helping them reach their own goals and dreams, is something that makes me feel like I am making a difference every day.”

Sandi-Rose Smith

Favorite Part

“The best part of New Director Academy was the Lockets The Nest teams made for us,” says Sandi-Rose. “The kind words and research that went into each and every one of the Lockets was amazing. So incredibly touching and emotional!”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“I put our lock by ‘Stories,’” says Sandi-Rose. “I posted a picture of the Directors Heart on my team page. I let the team choose, because without them, I would not be a Director. They chose ‘Stories,’ because that’s what we do. We tell stories. I put it as close to an ‘H’ as I could because we make people HAPPY. And, on the ‘O’ for The Blessed OwlChicks. It’s there for THEM!”

Why Earn Director?

“Earning Director is incredible because of the family and friendships that your team becomes,” shares Sandi-Rose. “The Blessed OwlChicks are a family. We are there for each other. No matter what.”

Cailin Bundrick

Favorite Part

My favorite part about New Director Academy was getting to know and bond with my fellow Directors more,” shares Cailin. “They are an amazing group of women who uplift one another and inspire one another to keep growing as individuals and as a team! I was also blown away by the efforts of The Nest staff to create our ‘teams’ and get to know us better in order to create beautiful Lockets that tell our stories through their eyes. They were so thoughtful and heartfelt. It was an experience I’ll never forget.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“With the help of my team, I selected the point on the exclamation point of ‘Say yes!’ for the Locket Loving Ladies’ Locket,” says Cailin. “I love that it encourages us to be brave in our pursuit of the things that set our hearts on fire! With ‘Embrace’ being my word for 2020, it felt especially fitting.”

Why Earn Director?

“New Director Academy, and all that comes with it, is just the beginning of the exciting things one can look forward to when they become Director,” shares Cailin. “Being a part of the O2 Directors Facebook group means even greater access to the top leaders in the company and their expertise. It means increased training, motivation and inspiration to achieve great things in our Origami Owl businesses.”

Simcha + Jaiden Bloomfield

Favorite Part

My favorite part about the New Director Academy is the training,” shares Simcha. “It is amazing to receive that extra training from The Nest staff and other leaders, to ensure that we as new Directors are doing what we are supposed to as leaders.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“After getting input from my teammates, I chose to put my heart lock by the ‘S’ in the word ‘Others,’” says Simcha. “I chose this place because ‘others’ are what our team is all about. Whether it’s growing our personal business or our team, focusing on how we can best serve others is how we will continue to be blessed. I put it specifically by the ‘S’ because our team name is Team Shalom.”

Why Earn Director?

“I would encourage all Designers to reach for director because the perks are amazing (see below),” shares Simcha. “Besides the extra goodies we get, one of my favorite parts is the exclusive Director’s Call we have each month to collaborate with Chrissy and the Nest staff. I am grateful to see how we give our opinions, and they are taken into consideration. I love being a Director!”

Julissa Schuster + Jada Cantu

Favorite Part

My favorite part of New Director Academy was bonding with the other new Directors,” shares Julissa. “I walked out of there with new friendships and was able to get to know everyone on a more personal level.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“I hung my lock on the word ‘Hope,’ shares Julissa. “I had asked our team where I should hang it because I felt it was theirs. They decided on ‘Hope’ because they said throughout my journey with Origami Owl, I’ve been able to bring hope to many families and that I always look on the bright side of things and always hope for the best.”

Why Earn Director?

“To be honest, I didn’t know how big of a deal hitting Director with Origami Owl was until it happened to me,” recalls Julissa. “I feel like once you hit Director there is a lot more responsibility, but for me, that works. I love being a leader. I love helping others grow along the way with me. I feel that once you hit a big title like Director, others really look up to you. When I tell other Designers my story about how I started as a kitnapper, it gives them a sense of hope that if a kitnapper can do it, anyone can do it!”

Amber Butts

Favorite Part

“My favorite part about the New Director Academy was getting to know my fellow new Directors better,” shares Amber. “Being able to strengthen those relationships is priceless.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“I put my lock above the word ‘Journey,’” shares Amber. “I can’t think of a better word to summarize the last five years. I’m so grateful for the incredible women I’ve met along this journey, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!”

Why Earn Director?

“If you’ve set a goal to become a Director, GO FOR IT,” shares Amber. “Because of Origami Owl, our family has been able to enjoy so many incredible opportunities. We’ve been able to help families in need and look for ways to be a blessing to others.”

Denise Curran

Favorite Part

“The greatest part of the New Director Academy was the training sessions led by those who have come before us,” shares Denise. “Both Karen Alaniz and Kate McKenzie’s sessions were amazing, and we got a lot out of them. I also loved the exercise on going through team members and putting them into categories (red, yellow and green) to determine who to work with. As leaders, we often feel responsible for everyone we sponsor reaching their goals, and often put more time into them when sometimes their desire or time commitment just isn’t there. They have to want it more than we want it for them.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“My team and I worked for this promotion for many years, so I asked them to choose where we should place our lock,” says Denise. “We chose the word ‘Lives’ and my lock is centered on that word. Senior Team Leader Lynn Gallo suggested it for the following reasons. For all the lives we cross, touch, change and impact sharing O2, including ourselves and our own personal growth. For the lives of your Owl Sisters you met as strangers, who have now become friends. For the lives you have yet to meet in your near future and for those you will someday meet up with again.”

Why Earn Director?

“I hope that other Designers will aspire to reach Director because of the incredible sense of accomplishment it provides,” shares Denise. “Helping New Designers launch, then feel the 02 love when they sponsor their first Designers and promote up to Team Leader, is one of the best feelings in this business. Give them their wings and let them fly. Love and support them, and most importantly, believe in them. We have so much to offer and celebrate at every level. Director is just one stop along that journey.”

Holly Corbett

Favorite Part

“My favorite part of the New Director Academy was getting to truly bond with the amazing ladies who achieved this milestone with me,” shares Holly. “We were vulnerable with each other and shared from the heart. I feel so much closer to each and every one of them.”

Lock/Heart Ceremony

“After reaching out to my team for guidance, since this was our achievement, we decided to put our lock on the first ‘F’ in the word ‘Difference,’” shares Holly. “We are making a difference and an impact on this world full of negativity. The ‘F’ also stands for the friendships we have made as a result of beautiful stories.”

Why Earn Director?

“I highly recommend that everyone’s drive is to achieve this milestone in your personal business,” says Holly. “I set this goal for myself six years ago and it was very overwhelming to see a vision become a reality. I was truly proud of myself for never giving up and continuing to push forward. We all let fear stand in the way, but push forward and go for your dreams; I guarantee you will be glad you did.”
